The role of Shop Assistant/Cashier (P27) is to provide an outstanding shopping experience for customers. This includes restocking shelves, arranging products, keeping the store clean, and handling transactions at the checkout smoothly.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Strong customer service skills
  • Good communication skills; fluent in English (knowledge of other languages is a plus)

  • Previous retail experience is helpful but not required

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver excellent customer service for a positive shopping experience
    • Help customers find products
    • Handle customer questions and complaints
  • Perform cashier duties
    • Process cash and card payments
    • Manage lay-by purchases
    • Handle refunds
    • Report any issues to the supervisor
    • Balance the till at the end of the shift
  • Handle merchandising
    • Ensure products are priced correctly and displayed well
    • Keep stock available on the sales floor
    • Maintain store cleanliness
    • Stay informed about current promotions
  • Support risk management
    • Tag products according to company policy
    • Participate in stock counts
    • Watch for shoplifting or suspicious behavior and report it to management
  • Follow Ackermans values, policies, and procedures in all your work
