Service Area Assistant – Butchery

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare or wrap products according to specifications and maintain hygiene, housekeeping, and safe working standards in the floor and back-up areas.
  • Stack and store products in a safe and tidy manner.
  • Merchandise products according to company standards.
  • Correctly price random weight and loose selling items.
  • Check correct pricing, such as labels.
  • Check product quality, rotate stock, and remove expired items.
  • Prevent wastage, shrinkage, and damages.
  • Check temperatures and maintain the cold chain (if applicable).
  • Adhere to and maintain security procedures.
  • Operate and clean equipment according to standards.
  • Approach and advise customers on products, listen to their requests, provide required products or services, and handle customers courteously.
  • Process all customer orders according to correct procedures and service standards.
  • Promote products according to laid-down standards.

Requirements:

  • Good communication skills.
  • Basic numeracy.
  • Ability to follow process instructions.
  • Calm and patient demeanor.
  • Conscientious and detail-oriented.
  • Customer-focused mindset.
  • Ability to handle routine tasks.
  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • Butchery experience is advantageous.
  • Must be able to communicate in English.

Note: The incumbent may also be expected to perform other duties as assigned from time to time. This position may require transferability between stores.
