Senior Specialist: Engineering (Innovation and Solutioning)

Position Purpose

Drive the implementation of transformative ‘Game Changer’ concepts aligned with SARS’ Vision 2024 strategy. Lead innovation through research, prototyping, and solution design while shaping business architecture roadmaps for sustainable results.

Key Requirements

Education:
• Honors/Postgraduate Diploma (NQF 8) in Industrial Engineering/Computer Science + 10-12 years’ innovation/tech experience (3-4 years at specialist level)
OR
• Bachelor’s Degree/Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in relevant field + 15 years’ experience (3-4 years at specialist level)

Core Responsibilities

Innovation Leadership:

  • Conduct global benchmarking and foresight analysis
  • Develop prototypes and pilot next-generation solutions
  • Create innovation business cases and benefit tracking systems

Strategic Solution Design:

  • Craft 5-10 year modernization roadmaps
  • Collaborate on enterprise architecture development
  • Facilitate solution testing and implementation support

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build partnerships with internal/external technology leaders
  • Present strategic recommendations to executive teams
