About the Role
Lead innovative research in root and tuber crop development with primary focus on potato breeding systems. This position requires expertise in:
- Designing and executing genetic research projects
- Managing plant breeding programs (potato, sweet potato, cassava)
- Securing research funding and managing projects
- Mentoring graduate students and research teams
- Publishing research in peer-reviewed journals
Key Responsibilities
- Develop advanced breeding techniques for root crops
- Analyze genetic data and interpret results
- Oversee seed development processes
- Collaborate with national/international research partners
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations
Candidate Requirements
- PhD in relevant field with 5+ years experience
- Proven track record in potato breeding programs
- Minimum 8 peer-reviewed publications
- Experience with medicinal plant systems (advantageous)
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong leadership and communication skills
