Position Overview:

The Agricultural Research Council (ARC) seeks a qualified Senior Researcher to lead training initiatives and epidemiological research at our Onderstepoort facility. This position combines education leadership with scientific investigation to advance animal health in South Africa.

Key Responsibilities:

Training Leadership:

• Develop and oversee animal health training programs for farmers, technicians, and veterinarians
• Secure accreditation for ARC-OVR training programs
• Coordinate with universities and government agencies on agricultural education
• Establish ARC-OVR as Africa’s premier animal health training hub
• Manage training schedules and facilitator development

Research & Analysis:

• Design epidemiological studies for disease prevention and treatment
• Analyze disease patterns and transmission risks
• Develop improved veterinary research methodologies
• Advise government agencies on public health policies
• Supervise research teams and technical staff

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) or equivalent
• Master’s degree in relevant field (PhD advantageous)
• 3-5 years’ experience in epidemiology and training
• Proven skills in study design and statistical analysis
• Knowledge of national skills development frameworks
• Strong presentation and project management skills
• Experience with One Health initiatives preferred
