Senior Project Manager (x3) – Data and Software Implementation (Fixed Term Contract)

Job Purpose

  • Manage the start and delivery of major data-driven software projects. Ensure they stay within scope, time, and budget limits while following quality, legal, and governance rules.
  • Guide and support junior project managers. Provide line management when needed.

Education and Experience

Minimum Qualification and Experience

  • A relevant bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in Project Management, plus 8-10 years in software and IT projects. Focus on data-driven software implementation, with 3-4 years at a senior level.

Alternative Qualification

  • Senior Certificate (NQF 4) plus 15 years in software and IT projects. Focus on data-driven software implementation, with 3-4 years at a senior level.

Minimum Functional Requirements

  • Computer literate and skilled in using MS Project.

Job Outputs

Process

  • Manage project prioritization by turning approved business cases into integrated delivery plans. Handle scope, finances, resources, and timelines in an agile way.
  • Review work scopes, mitigate risks, and create high-level plans, project charters, and initiation documents.
  • Guide the creation of project plans, schedules, and governance documents. Ensure resources are available.
  • Engage stakeholders to align on scope and plans. Facilitate decisions with senior leaders.
  • Develop a practical change management plan for the SARS environment.
  • Monitor project performance, make corrections, and consolidate team progress.
  • Hold regular meetings to track and report on progress.

  • Oversee procurement and supplier onboarding. Manage costs, commitments, and payments.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders. Define roles and communicate progress.
  • Develop teams to deliver projects efficiently.

  • Plan work outputs, set priorities, and procedures for implementation.
  • Recommend improvements to data, processes, systems, and policies.
