Senior Professional Officer: Waste Water Treatment Works

Minimum Requirements:

  • National Diploma (NQF 6) in Water Care, Chemical Engineering, or Civil Engineering with a focus on Wastewater
  • Eligible to register or registered as a Class V Process Controller (Wastewater) as per Regulation 3630 or its amendments
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience, including 2 years in a supervisory role
  • In-depth knowledge of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition)
  • A valid Code B Driver’s License
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office software, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Other Requirements:

  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and interpretation skills for relevant laws, regulations, policies, and best practices
  • High level of responsibility and attention to detail
  • Mathematical skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Strong knowledge of wastewater engineering principles in areas like civil, mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, and hydrogeology
  • Advanced knowledge of technologies such as Membrane Technology
  • Willingness to work outside normal hours and during emergencies
  • Solution-oriented mindset
  • Planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Supervisory skills
  • Proficiency in at least two of the three official Western Cape languages: English, Xhosa, and Afrikaans
