Requirements

  • BTech, BSc, or BEng Degree in Civil Engineering
  • At least 5 to 7 years of experience after graduation in project management, design, contract management, or construction of civil engineering and industrial building projects
  • Experience in managing major projects worth over R75 million
  • Candidate Engineering Technologist or Engineer (required), or Professional registration with ECSA as Pr Tech Eng or Pr Eng (preferred)
  • Registration as Pr PM or Pr CPM is an advantage
  • A valid Code B or EB driver’s licence

Key Performance Areas

  • Manage projects for Urban Waste Management facilities effectively, from site selection to development and operations. This includes integrated waste management facilities, transfer stations, landfill sites, drop-off points, offices, and depots.
  • Scope out projects, identify risks, and develop mitigation or contingency plans.
  • Prepare infrastructure plans for the long-term Service Master Plan and the City’s Integrated Development Plan (IDP).
  • Identify projects and estimate costs for the 3-year, 10-year, and 20-year capital budgets.
  • Draft specifications and help select consultants through a competitive process.
