Job Summary

Rand Water is looking for a candidate who will report to the Senior Process Supervisor on shift. The role involves operating and supervising the electrical plant and equipment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12
  • 5 years’ plant experience as a Process Controller
  • 2 years experience as a Senior Process Controller
  • Blue Drop Requirements: Class III operator
  • Electrical switching experience is desirable
  • Analytical skills for fault finding and problem solving
  • A valid code 08 Driver’s License and the ability to pass Rand Water K53 Test will be an advantage
  • Computer literacy

Primary Duties

  • Operate the disinfection plant, including the chlorine and ammonia injection system
  • Monitor water quality to ensure compliance with Production Water Quality Guidelines
  • Maintain safety and housekeeping of the electrical pumping plant
  • Supervise Process Controller Assistants and plant equipment
  • Communicate effectively with the Senior Process Supervisor on water quality and pumping matters
  • Manage and control shifts
  • Handle energy management

Knowledge

  • Basic knowledge and application of ISO 14000 and ISO 9001
  • Basic chemistry and scientific knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of the OHS Act and its application

Skills

  • Communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Analytical skills for fault finding and problem solving
  • Operation of high-voltage (H.V.) and low-voltage (LV) electrical equipment and large units
  • Administrative skills

  • Safety consciousness while ensuring plant reliability
