Position Details

• Employment Type: Full-Time Position
• Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) in Development Studies/Social Sciences/Urban Development. Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience Needed: 6+ years professional experience (2+ years managerial)
• Location: Durban, KwaZulu-Natal
• Department: Strategic Planning & Policy Development

Key Responsibilities

• Drive long-term urban planning initiatives (30-100 year frameworks)
• Lead Integrated Development Plan (IDP) creation and annual reviews
• Establish international knowledge-sharing networks for urban policy
• Analyze legislative/policy impacts on municipal operations
• Manage strategic research programs and stakeholder engagements
• Oversee team development and budgeting processes

Candidate Requirements

Essential Qualifications:

• Valid driver’s license
• Proven track record in policy development

Preferred Assets:

• Postgraduate qualification in relevant field
• 7+ years experience with 3+ years leadership in environmental sectors
