The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) is an independent statutory body established under the Special Investigating Units Act (No. 74 of 1996). We investigate corruption, malpractice, and maladministration in state institutions to protect public resources and promote accountability.
Position Overview
Lead cyber forensics operations and data analysis for national investigations into state corruption. Manage end-to-end digital investigations while driving strategic improvements in forensic capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee cyber forensic investigations and incident response protocols
- Analyze complex digital evidence including networks, malware, and cloud systems
- Develop fraud detection models using statistical analysis and data mining
- Manage a team of forensic specialists and technical staff
- Ensure compliance with data security standards and legal requirements
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary investigation teams
Requirements
- Bachelor Honours Degree (NQF 8) in Cyber Forensics/Data Forensics or related field
- 6-8 years investigative experience (4 years at management level)
- Expertise in digital evidence handling and forensic tools
- Knowledge of network architectures and malware analysis
- Project management certification (advantageous)
- Professional membership in relevant body (advantageous)
