Senior Engineer: Professional Engineering Support (Mkondeni)

Organization: Eskom – South Africa’s premier electricity provider (95% national supply)

Employment Type: Full Time (Permanent)

Education Requirement: BSc/BEng in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (NQF 8)

Experience Needed: 4+ years engineering operations & maintenance

Location: KwaZulu-Natal (Mkondeni area)

Professional Requirements: ECSA Pr Eng registration mandatory

Core Competencies Required

  • Advanced technical expertise in ADMS/SCADA systems
  • Proficiency in operational technology protocols (DNP3, IEC standards)
  • Network infrastructure management (LAN/WAN, firewalls, VPN)
  • Telecontrol systems & smart grid technologies
  • Cyber security implementation in industrial environments

Key Functional Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for power distribution systems
  • Develop engineering standards & operational procedures
  • Lead root cause analysis for system failures
  • Manage technology upgrades & system integrations
  • Mentor engineering teams & conduct knowledge transfers

Leadership Expectations

  • Demonstrate high ethical standards & safety consciousness
  • Drive innovation in grid management solutions
  • Effectively coordinate cross-functional teams
  • Deliver solutions aligned with business objectives
