Job Purpose:

The Senior Controller will be responsible for real-time monitoring of the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system, ensuring its proper functionality and taking immediate action to resolve any malfunctions or threats to the system. This role includes directing station staff and drivers during system issues and mitigating the impact of unexpected occurrences related to the fare collection system during active bus services.


Application Requirements:

  • Education: Grade 12 (Matric).
  • Experience: At least two years’ experience working within an Intelligent Transport System (ITS) and automated fare collection environment.
  • Advantageous Experience: Previous experience in public transport operations.
  • Licensing: A valid driver’s license.
  • Skills: Computer literacy is essential.

Primary Functions:

  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of the Intelligent Transport System (ITS) and communicate updates with users and stakeholders of the Automated Fare Collection (AFC) system.
  • Monitor and test the performance of AFC system infrastructure.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders and provide clear communication.
  • Conduct continuous real-time online monitoring and issue instructions regarding the functionality of the AFC system.
  • Report regularly on the status and functionality of the AFC system.
