Position Purpose

  • This 12-month training program aims to develop a pipeline for key roles within Transnet Port Terminals (TPT). Learners will be placed in specific areas based on their academic background, career goals, and business needs.
  • Preference will be given to female candidates living in the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily tasks as assigned per equipment.
  • Handle commodities according to daily operational needs.
  • Complete logbooks and record equipment defects.
  • Operate data terminals when required.
  • Maintain work-related radio communication.
  • Monitor equipment performance and report defects.
  • Report incidents or accidents.
  • Document daily operational occurrences.
  • Use safety equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers) when needed.
  • Follow terminal safety policies and procedures.
  • Sign on to the terminal operating system (Navis) and follow on-screen instructions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12/Matric is required. A TVET N6 in Logistics/Transport is advantageous.
  • Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old.

Competencies

  • Knowledge of terminal safety rules and regulations.
  • Familiarity with various types of cargo and equipment.
  • Understanding of terminal layout.
  • Skills in communication, literacy, and defensive driving.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and depth perception.
  • Strong planning, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good judgment and basic computer literacy.
