Are you passionate about social media and its role in community engagement? The South African Police Service (SAPS) is seeking a Social Media Official (Warrant Officer) to join our Corporate Communication and Liaison team at our Head Office in Pretoria, Gauteng.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Social Media Official, your core functions will include:
- Social Media Management: Oversee the SAPS social media platforms, responding to inquiries and complaints.
- Content Development: Create engaging content for platforms like WhatsApp, X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
- Campaign Management: Drive social media campaigns and develop strategies to increase engagement, followers, and brand awareness.
- Collaboration: Work with the marketing and media team to brainstorm and implement innovative marketing initiatives.
- Event Coverage: Attend events to capture compelling photos and videos for social media use, including live coverage of SAPS events.
- Monitoring and Analytics: Analyze social media metrics to provide insights that optimize service delivery and assist in operational planning.
Requirements:
To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education:
- A three (3) year Diploma or Degree (accredited by SAQA on NQF level 6 or higher) in Marketing, Communication, Journalism, Film and Television, Media Relations, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Motion Picture, or a related field.
- Experience: Demonstrable experience in social media management will be an added advantage.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in at least two official languages, including English.
- Driver’s License: A valid light motor vehicle driver’s license.
- Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen with no prior criminal or departmental convictions.
- Physical Appearance: No visible tattoos when wearing the uniform.
- Computer Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to Work Under Pressure: Willingness to manage high-pressure situations and extended hours.
Additional Post Requirements:
- Broad understanding of media platforms and the nuances of paid social media.
- Strong attention to detail and organized with problem-solving abilities.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to implement tactical plans.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
