1. Safety and Risk Officer
2. Senior Safety and Risk Officer
Core Responsibilities
For Both Roles:
- Monitor compliance with OHSE legislation and municipal standards
- Conduct safety audits and risk assessments
- Investigate workplace incidents and fatalities
- Maintain safety statistics and reporting
- Coordinate safety training programs
Additional Senior Role Requirements:
- Mentor junior safety officers
- Participate in departmental planning
- Coordinate safety budget expenditure
- Conduct external safety audits
Education & Experience Requirements
Safety and Risk Officer:
- Diploma in Safety Management (NQF 6)
- HIRA and Safety Auditing certifications
- Valid driver’s license
- 3+ years’ safety management experience
- Preferred: Degree (NQF 7) + 4 years’ experience
Senior Safety and Risk Officer:
- Diploma in Safety Management (NQF 6)
- HIRA and Safety Auditing certifications
- Valid driver’s license
- 4+ years’ safety management experience
- Preferred: Degree (NQF 7) + 5 years’ experience
Technical Requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of municipal safety protocols
- Understanding of risk assessment methodologies
