Job Description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies’ Newcastle Mall store seeks a Retail Store Assistant to join the team. The role involves helping manage the store’s daily operations and administrative tasks according to company policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Basic computer skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledge of SAP is an advantage.
  • Retail experience

Job Specification

  • Handle and report customer compliments and complaints to management.
  • Build professional relationships with customers.
  • Resolve all customer stock queries promptly.
  • Provide timely feedback to customers and maintain good communication.
  • Assist customers with inquiries and direct them to the right departments.
  • Meet the company’s customer turnover rate per hour.
  • Manage point-of-sale shorts and overs, including handling floats.
  • Process refunds and returns accurately.
  • Handle back shopping and returned goods properly.
  • Check deliveries and invoices for accuracy.
  • Help the Receiving Manager prepare and log claims with the Distribution Centre.
  • Control and manage high-risk stock.
  • Prepare daily run reconciliations.
  • Order and receive branch change to ensure cashiers have enough for smooth service.
  • Maintain good communication with relevant teams.
  • Keep accurate records for floats, petty cash, and cash on hand.
