Position Overview
We seek a qualified Researcher to lead sensory evaluation projects and drive innovation in food science research at South Africa’s premier agricultural institution.
Position Type: Full Time
Education Requirement: MSc/PhD in Food Science, Food Technology, or related field
Experience Level: 3-5 years research experience
Location: ARC Campus, Irene, Gauteng
Core Responsibilities
- Design and manage comprehensive sensory research projects (consumer panels, descriptive analysis, preference testing)
- Develop innovative methodologies for food texture and flavor analysis
- Lead research teams and supervise postgraduate students
- Manage project budgets up to R2.5 million
- Produce peer-reviewed publications (minimum 3-5 publications required)
- Collaborate with industry partners on technology transfer initiatives
Essential Qualifications
- PhD preferred (MSc candidates require 3+ years direct experience)
- Demonstrated experience in sensory evaluation techniques
- Proven track record in securing research funding
- Strong data analysis and statistical capabilities
- Experience supervising junior researchers/students
- Valid driver’s license (advantageous)
