Position Summary
We require a skilled Researcher to provide strategic support in science, technology and innovation policy development. This full-time role in Cape Town demands strong analytical capabilities and sector-specific expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Research Activities
- Design and manage comprehensive research projects answering policy-related questions
- Collect and analyze data from credible sources, interpreting findings within legislative frameworks
- Coordinate collaborative research initiatives across parliamentary clusters
Strategic Support
- Contribute to Committee planning processes and business programs
- Identify emerging sector challenges requiring parliamentary attention
- Develop strategic publications highlighting key policy priorities
Parliamentary Support
- Prepare briefing documents for oversight visits and international engagements
- Provide research support during parliamentary sessions and international forums
- Develop reports on regional parliamentary meetings and engagements
Professional Development
- Monitor emerging policy developments and legislative gaps
- Maintain sector expertise through continuous professional development
- Participate in institutional planning and reporting processes
Qualifications & Requirements
- Honours Degree (NQF 8) in Natural/Life Sciences
- 3+ years applied research experience in science/technology sector
- Comprehensive understanding of STI policy frameworks
- Proven track record in policy analysis and technical writing
