Position Summary

We require a skilled Researcher to provide strategic support in science, technology and innovation policy development. This full-time role in Cape Town demands strong analytical capabilities and sector-specific expertise.

Key Responsibilities

Research Activities

• Design and manage comprehensive research projects answering policy-related questions
• Collect and analyze data from credible sources, interpreting findings within legislative frameworks
• Coordinate collaborative research initiatives across parliamentary clusters

Strategic Support

• Contribute to Committee planning processes and business programs
• Identify emerging sector challenges requiring parliamentary attention
• Develop strategic publications highlighting key policy priorities

Parliamentary Support

• Prepare briefing documents for oversight visits and international engagements
• Provide research support during parliamentary sessions and international forums
• Develop reports on regional parliamentary meetings and engagements

Professional Development

• Monitor emerging policy developments and legislative gaps
• Maintain sector expertise through continuous professional development
• Participate in institutional planning and reporting processes

Qualifications & Requirements

• Honours Degree (NQF 8) in Natural/Life Sciences
• 3+ years applied research experience in science/technology sector
• Comprehensive understanding of STI policy frameworks
• Proven track record in policy analysis and technical writing
