About the Role:
Lead innovative research on vegetable insect pests through field and lab-based studies. Manage research projects from concept to completion while adhering to scientific standards and organizational strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute field/lab experiments with accurate data collection/analysis
- Develop new research initiatives and secure external funding
- Manage laboratory resources, equipment, and research teams
- Produce scientific publications, technical manuals, and public outreach materials
- Provide diagnostic support and pest management recommendations
Essential Requirements:
- PhD in relevant agricultural science discipline
- Minimum 3 years’ post-graduate research experience
- Proven laboratory/insectary management skills
- Experience with crop pest monitoring and field trials
- Valid South African driver’s license
- Record of scientific publications (minimum 2 peer-reviewed articles)
Preferred Skills:
- Integrated Pest Management (IPM) expertise
- Experience presenting research findings
- Technical writing for non-academic audiences
