Position Details

• Employment Type: Full Time
• Required Qualification: National Certificate (NQF6) in Plant Pathology/Biotechnology/Microbiology or related field
• Experience Level: 3-5 years in plant disease research
• Location: Stellenbosch, Western Cape
• Department: Research & Scientific Operations

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement technical activity plans for agricultural research
• Supervise glasshouse/field trials and data collection across multiple crops
• Conduct nationwide field surveys to identify plant health issues
• Isolate and analyze soilborne pathogens from agricultural crops
• Prepare fungal cultures for molecular analysis
• Manage research data collection and processing
• Oversee maintenance of laboratory equipment and resources
• Support budget preparation and technical reporting
• Mentor junior research staff members
• Coordinate scientific meetings and events

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience in plant disease diagnosis and management
• Fieldwork capability across multiple provinces
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Valid South African Code 08/EB Driver’s License
• Strong organizational and supervisory skills
