Research Technician: Seed Systems

Qualification: National Diploma/BTech/BSc in Plant Breeding, Crop Production or Agronomy
Experience: 3+ years in crop production systems

About the Role:

Join our team supporting vital agricultural research through analytical expertise and technical leadership in seed system development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and validate analytical methods using advanced laboratory technologies (HPLC, LC-MS, GC-MS)
  • Conduct quality-controlled testing of plant-based materials
  • Supervise technical staff and support project coordination
  • Implement ISO 17025 quality management standards
  • Analyze and present research data to stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality protocols
  • Support technology transfer and capacity building initiatives

Requirements:

  • National Diploma or degree in relevant agricultural field
  • Proven experience in crop production systems
  • Working knowledge of seed system fundamentals
  • Experience with root/tuber crops (advantageous)
  • Familiarity with laboratory quality systems (ISO 17025 preferred)
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • Computer literacy and valid driver’s license
  • Registration with professional body (advantageous)
