Qualification:
- Grade 12 or a relevant post-matric qualification, preferably NTC 3 in Water Treatment or Waste Water Treatment.
- Trade-related qualification: Operators Certificate / Waste Water Treatment Practice (N3).
- 1-2 years of relevant experience.
Requirements:
- Class II Operator certification.
- Code B driver’s license.
- Proficiency in at least two official languages of the Western Cape (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Ability to do basic calculations.
- High level of responsibility.
- Attention to detail.
- Knowledge of process functionality in a Waste Water Treatment Works and related installations.
- Understanding of plant performance, system functionality, recording, and reporting.
- Physically fit and healthy.
- Able to enter confined spaces like manholes, inlets, pipes, and culverts.
- Willing to work in all weather conditions.
- Available to work outside normal hours during emergencies and planned overtime.
- Ready to perform duties across the entire municipality when needed.
Job Purpose:
To treat wastewater by following specific operating procedures, control plant performance, conduct tests, and take corrective actions. This ensures compliance with standards and maintains optimal functionality.
Key Performance Areas:
- Operate the Waste Water Treatment Plant according to procedures to ensure proper treatment and purification.
- Clean units and dispose of waste to maintain housekeeping standards and prevent downtime.
- Supervise and control civil services for operations and maintenance of Waste Water Treatment Works.
- Keep records and report on activities.
- Follow health and safety rules to prevent incidents and maintain a safe environment.
- Participate in the Municipality’s Performance Management and Development System.
