Position: Project Management Unit Manager (Task Grade 16)

Key Details

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Master’s in Project Management
  • Preferred Qualification: Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Tech/Pr Eng) or candidacy status
  • Requirements: Valid Code EB Driver’s License | Local government experience preferred

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop PMU business plans, budgets, and MIG/DORA-aligned strategy reports.
  • Oversee civil engineering projects, including timelines, cost control, and risk management.
  • Coordinate stakeholder engagement and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Monitor project outcomes and submit performance evaluations.

Strategic Competencies

  • Align project goals with organizational objectives to maximize value delivery.
  • Interpret policy frameworks including MFMA, Municipal Systems Act, and OHSA.

Leadership Requirements

  • Demonstrate conflict resolution, critical thinking, and team motivation skills.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with stakeholders and maintain transparency.

Technical Expertise

  • Proficiency in civil engineering standards and budget management tools.
  • Knowledge of local government procurement processes and governance protocols.
