Key Requirements
- A basic R425 qualification, such as a diploma or degree in nursing, or an equivalent that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
- Computer skills in Word and Excel. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently and in a team. Knowledge of community-oriented primary care.
- For Grade 1: No experience required after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
- For Grade 2: At least 10 years of appropriate experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
- For Grade 3: At least 20 years of appropriate experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
- Registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
- A valid driver’s licence (Code B/EB). Willingness to work in all primary health care facilities, such as community day centres, clinics, satellite clinics, and mobile clinics. Willing to work after hours and travel as needed.
Duties
- Provide clinical school health services in the George Sub District to learners with parental consent. This includes health assessments, immunizations, and deworming. Participate in health campaigns.
- Support community care workers and teachers as part of the school team, as well as professional nurses in special schools.
- Help primary health care facilities offer youth-friendly services after school hours and during school holidays.
- Monitor referrals and connect with community structures.
- Monitor and evaluate the program, manage data, and prepare reports.
Salary and Benefits
- Grade 1: R 324 384 per annum
- Grade 2: R 396 132 per annum
- Grade 3: R 476 367 per annum
- Plus annual benefits: 13th cheque, employer’s contribution to pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance.
