Requirements
- A valid driver’s licence (Code B/EB). Willingness to work shifts, including Sundays, public holidays, night shifts, and overtime.
- Basic R425 qualification (diploma or degree in nursing) or equivalent that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
- Post-basic nursing qualification of at least one year, accredited by SANC, in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Critical Care Nursing: General or Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Critical Care Nursing: Trauma and Emergency.
- Good understanding of nursing laws, ethical practices, and how they affect service delivery. Strong skills in communication, leadership, organization, decision-making, and conflict resolution. Knowledge of the South African Triage Scale (SATS) and Emergency Nursing. Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- For Grade 1: At least 4 years of appropriate experience in nursing after SANC registration as a Professional Nurse in General Nursing.
- For Grade 2: At least 14 years of appropriate experience in nursing after SANC registration as a Professional Nurse in General Nursing.
- At least 10 years of the above experience must be in the specific specialty after obtaining the one-year post-basic qualification.
- Registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
- Note: No payment is needed to apply. Shortlisted candidates will face practical, written, and oral assessments. If you lack required qualifications, you may be appointed in the general stream and must obtain them within a set time. If you are not registered, you can apply but must provide proof of registration application and fees before the interview. This applies only to first-time post-basic registrations in the relevant fields.
Duties
- Provide holistic, specialized nursing care to patients in a cost-effective way.
- Implement infection control policies and health and safety rules effectively.
- Help manage human and material resources.
- Build positive working relationships with nursing staff and other stakeholders.
- Take part in training, development, and research in the nursing department.
- Support nursing services.
Salary and Benefits
Grade 1: R 476 367 per annum.
Grade 2: R 583 989 per annum (plus a non-pensionable rural allowance of 8% of your annual basic salary).
Includes annual salary plus service benefits like a 13th cheque, employer’s pension fund contribution, housing, and medical aid allowance.
