Requirements

  • A Diploma or Degree in Nursing (Basic R171, R174, or R425) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional or Registered Nurse.
  • Current registration with SANC as a Professional or Registered Nurse.
  • Good communication skills, report writing skills, facilitation skills, coordination skills, planning and organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and information management skills.

Duties

  • Provide direction and supervision for implementing the nursing plan to ensure quality patient care. Apply standards, practices, criteria, and indicators for quality nursing.
  • Practice nursing and health care according to relevant laws and regulations. Maintain constructive working relationships with nursing colleagues and other stakeholders.
  • Use human, physical, and material resources efficiently and effectively. Understand legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices.
  • Perform clinical nursing practice and promote quality nursing care within the scope of practice and standards set by the institution.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure excellent nursing care.
  • Work effectively and amicably with people from diverse intellectual, cultural, racial, or religious backgrounds. Plan and organize your own work and that of support staff to ensure proper nursing care.
  • Provide quality patient care by following set standards, policies, and procedures. Uphold Batho-Pele Principles and the Patient’s Rights Charter to improve service delivery.
  • Act as shift leader in the unit when necessary. Use resources effectively.
  • Participate in training and research. Maintain professional growth, ethical standards, and self-development.
  • Be prepared to work shifts and rotate as needed.
