Requirements:
- Basic R425 qualification, such as a Diploma or Degree in Nursing, or an equivalent that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
- Experience in a psychiatric setting is an added advantage for a career in psychiatry.
- A driver’s license and computer literacy are advantages.
Duties:
- Provide optimal, holistic mental health care in nursing. Deliver complex and advanced comprehensive care to patients in a psychiatric unit in a cost-effective, efficient, and equitable way.
- Understand the processes, procedures, and legal frameworks related to Nursing and the Mental Health Care Act. Act as a shift leader when needed.
- Be able to work night shifts and public holidays. Strong communication and writing skills are essential. Ensure the implementation of National Regulated Norms and Standards and Batho Pele Principles.
- Participate in hospital committees outside the unit to improve service delivery. Maintain personal professional growth and ethical standards.
