Professional Nurse: General – 19 Posts (5-Month Contract)

Salary:

  • Grade 1: R324 384 – R382 107 per annum (OSD)
  • Grade 2: R396 132 – R466 623 per annum (OSD)
  • Grade 3: R476 367 – R610 662 per annum (OSD)
  • Salary will be set based on the regulatory framework (OSD).
  • Reference: ECHEALTH/PNG/ORT/S16/15/10/2025
  • Centre: OR Tambo District

Requirements:

  • A basic R425 qualification (Degree or Diploma in Nursing) or equivalent that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
  • Proof of current registration with SANC.

Experience:

  • Grade 1: No experience needed.
  • Grade 2: At least 10 years of relevant experience in nursing after SANC registration in General Nursing.
  • Grade 3: At least 20 years of relevant experience in nursing after SANC registration in General Nursing.

Duties:

  • Carry out nursing tasks and roles effectively within legal and departmental guidelines.
  • Provide and keep a safe, supportive environment for patients.
  • Watch over patients and do standard nursing procedures following approved policies and guidelines.
  • Use a team-based approach to give complete care to patients and clients.
  • Stay skilled in clinical work by using evidence-based nursing practices.
  • Keep accurate patient records and protect privacy.
  • Ensure patients are satisfied by delivering quality service, following professional standards, Batho Pele principles, and the Patients’ Rights Charter.
  • Use resources in the unit wisely and effectively.
  • Deliver high-quality nursing care and manage the unit when the Operational Manager is away.
  • Assess staff performance using the Employee Performance Management and Development System (EPMDS).
  • Encourage, guide, and mentor nursing staff for ongoing professional development.
  • Handle and control scheduled drugs per laws and hospital rules.
  • Be ready for day and night shifts as needed.
  • Do other tasks assigned by the supervisor to help provide strong healthcare services.
