REQUIREMENTS

  • Three-year National Diploma (NQF 6) or undergraduate Bachelor Degree (NQF 7) in Analytical Chemistry, Occupational Health, Hygiene, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Four years of functional experience in Health and Hygiene inspection or services.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Knowledge of: Departmental policies and procedures, Batho Pele Principles, Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act and Regulations, OHS Standards, OHS Management System, OHSAS, Inspector’s appointment certificate, and ex-officio appointment certificate.
  • Skills: Facilitation, planning and organizing, computer literacy, interpersonal relations, problem solving, interviewing, listening and observation, presentation, innovation, analysis, research, and project management.

DUTIES

  • Provide input into the development of Health and Hygiene policies and ensure the implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) strategy for the Department of Employment and Labour.
  • Conduct complex inspections for Health and Hygiene as per the inspection programme.
  • Perform technical research on the latest trends in Occupational Health and Safety within identified sectors.
  • Support enforcement actions, including preparing reports for legal proceedings.
