Responsibilities:

  • Help educators grow professionally by coaching them to meet their personal development goals. This includes leading weekly training sessions for all staff and arranging individual growth opportunities.
  • Support student success by setting high standards for teaching in all subjects. Regularly observe classes and meet with teachers to help them plan, deliver lessons, and use SPARK Schools’ culture and behavior management methods.
  • Put the network’s challenging curriculum into practice, which matches and builds on South Africa’s national curriculum.
  • Manage online learning and small-group tutoring in the Learning Lab that supports classroom teaching.
  • Guide teachers through assessing student work and using data to focus on areas needing extra help.
  • Work with school leaders to manage teachers, including conducting termly and final reviews.
  • Help select new staff for the school.
  • Handle the onboarding of new teachers.
  • Share details about network policies and procedures with parents, students, staff, and the community.
  • Apply school disciplinary rules and processes.
  • Take part in staff development as part of the SPARK Schools team.
  • Act professionally at all SPARK Schools events and with all stakeholders.

Requirements

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Fluency in English.
  • A clear criminal record.
  • Grade 12 Certificate.
  • A completed B.Ed or PGCE degree.
  • SACE registration.

Experience:

  • Prior work managing or teaching primary school children.
  • At least 2 years of strong classroom teaching.
  • Experience leading a team.
  • Knowledge of labor laws.
