Presiding Officers for COIDA Services

The Department of Employment and Labour plays a key role in reducing unemployment, poverty, and inequality. It develops policies and programmes in partnership with social groups to improve economic efficiency, create jobs, promote good labour relations, and eliminate inequality and discrimination in the workplace.

Requirements

  • A BProc or LLB degree.
  • Admitted as an attorney or advocate.
  • Medico-legal experience is an advantage.
  • At least 5 years of practical experience.
  • In good standing with the Legal Practice Council of South Africa.

Duties

  • Preside over hearings of objections under sections 56 and 91 of the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act, 1993 (as amended), against decisions by the Compensation Commissioner.
