PMU Manager

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12
  • Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Civil Engineering
  • At least 3 years of experience in project management, preferably in local government
  • Certificate in Labour Intensive Construction Methods (NQF 5/7)
  • Registration with ECSA as a candidate or Professional Engineering Technician or Technologist
  • Valid Driver’s Licence
  • Knowledge of MIG and Municipal Infrastructure System
  • Experience with AutoCAD or other design programs is an advantage

Key Performance Areas

  • Manage and coordinate the PMU, and advise the Council on implementing infrastructure projects
  • Ensure projects meet the municipality’s requirements
  • Prepare contracts and tender documents, and manage contractual obligations
  • Handle safety duties and apply the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Understand government policies on service delivery, poverty alleviation, eradication, and job creation
  • Manage grant-funded projects
  • Register projects on MIG and MIS
  • Report on MIG and MIS
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Technical Services
