Purpose of the Role:
To execute and oversee the side trail dredging process as a core component of dredging operations, supporting maximum production efficiency and maintaining key dredge equipment.
Key Responsibilities:

Operate and manage the side trail pipe system to reduce cycle time and boost output.

Perform maintenance, repairs, and calibrations on deck dredging equipment and manage critical spares.

Advise on pipe positioning for optimized dredging accuracy and material volume.

Monitor and adjust the reclaimed material flow to prevent blockages, ensuring safe coupling and rain bowing techniques.

Maintain the full range of pipeman-operated equipment including pumps, winches, and the side trail system.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
-
Grade 12 with Maths and Science (or equivalent)

Mechanical background (advantageous)

Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience
OR -
Demonstrated numeracy and literacy plus a pass in Marine Dredging Maths and Physics Bridging Test

5 years’ experience as a pipe operator
Required Competencies:
-
Mechanical aptitude
-
Sea safety certifications: First Aid, Advanced Firefighting, Personal Survival Techniques

Marine Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Certificate
-
Numeracy, computer literacy, and valid Code 8 driver’s license

Ability to assess sea conditions and respond to equipment breakdowns at sea

Strong communication and leadership skills
