Introduction

This role involves providing pharmaceutical care services within the scope of practice and handling day-to-day dispensary administration according to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The focus is on script administration and general dispensing duties, with an emphasis on patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with customers professionally, maintaining strict confidentiality within SOPs and agreed timelines.
  • Handle script administration and any related claiming or capturing procedures.
  • Ensure accurate and complete management of all patient profiles.
  • Communicate with healthcare professionals when necessary.
  • Solve problems and follow up on queries.

Duties

  • Assist customers via telephone or other methods regarding medications and healthcare services.
  • Accurately capture scripts received at the central pharmacy.
  • Manage queries about prescriptions.
  • Handle patient profile management.
  • Support chronic medication authorizations.
  • Coordinate with other departments.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed to meet operational requirements.

Knowledge Required

  • Product knowledge, including over-the-counter (OTC) items.
  • Understanding of South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) regulations and relevant laws.
  • Solid knowledge of chronic authorization processes and procedures.
  • Customer service focus.
  • Ethical practices and compliance.

  • Computer literacy, including MS Office.
