Description

A position is open for a Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic) who will report to the Pharmacy Manager. The role involves providing medication and support services to patients and the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, check, and unpack stock, and verify orders against invoices.
• Acquire, control, and distribute stock to hospital units.
• Order pharmaceutical stock, process credits, and handle stock transfers.
• Conduct cycle counts and stock takes, record them, and investigate any differences.
• Work with nursing staff and doctors on formulary items and new initiatives.
• Join the hospital’s quality improvement programs.
• Assist in dispensing and compounding medications under a pharmacist’s supervision.
• Restock the emergency medication cupboard.
• Manage expired or unused stock.
• Help with daily administrative tasks.
• Support daily ordering and stock management.

Requirements

• Registered as a Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant with the South African Pharmacy Council.
• Experience in a hospital pharmacy is a plus.
• Good computer skills.
