Part-Time Sales Assistant Position – Cape Union Mart, Gateway Mall

About Us:
Cape Union Mart, South Africa’s leading outdoor adventure retailer since 1933, is seeking a dedicated Part-Time Sales Assistant to join our Gateway Mall team. We specialize in providing gear for hiking, camping, trail running, and outdoor exploration, empowering adventurers nationwide.

Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service through effective sales techniques.
  • Manage stock control and minimize loss prevention.
  • Achieve and exceed individual sales targets consistently.
  • Process transactions accurately (cash, card, vouchers, and other payment methods).
  • Maintain store presentation and visual merchandising standards.
  • Resolve customer inquiries and escalate feedback to management.

Candidate Requirements:

Essential:

  • Matric certificate or equivalent qualification
  • 0–6 months retail experience
  • Clear credit and criminal record
  • Flexibility to work retail hours, including weekends

Preferred Skills:

  • 1+ years of retail experience
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Knowledge of outdoor lifestyle products (advantageous)

  • Customer-focused with a proactive attitude
  • Integrity and attention to detail
