The available position is that of a Production Artisan Aid at the Bonnievale Plant, Parmalat SA.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist the Production Artisan with day to day tasks to ensure that the production schedules are met • Help the Artisan with cheese making activities • Daily production analysis to improve quality on a continuous basis • Cleaning, sterilising and sanitising of all equipment in the cheese factory • Taking of samples and washing of the inside of the cheese vats after every batch • Operate the pasteuriser, separator and CIP systems when needed • Ensure that all ingredients are available for the daily production • Attend pre-shift meetings • Quality management and hygiene • Compare working procedures • Ensure that all CIP procedures were followed • Ensure that the constant filling, code application, palletising and wrapping of powder are done according to procedures • Order ingredients, raw materials and chemicals • Record keeping of milk being used for traceability • Maintain quality, safety and food safety standards • Help to standardize cheese milk • Stand in for the Artisan for short breaks • CIP cheese equipment

Required Skills

• Grade 12 or equivalent • Must have done basic knowledge/principles in cheese making • At least 1 year experience in a food manufacturing environment • Computer literate • Good communication skills • Self-motivator with good planning and organising skills • Must be willing to work shifts, weekends, overtime and public holidays • Know the principles of pasteurizing • Able to do physical hard work • Basic knowledge of problem solving
