About the Role

The Picking / Warehouse Administrator will coordinate all picking activities, manage inventory, and handle administrative tasks to keep the warehouse running smoothly. You will use a Warehouse Management System (WMS) to track orders, maintain stock accuracy, and report performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute daily picking tasks to meet customer orders and delivery schedules.
  • Generate pick lists, allocate stock, and confirm order completion using the WMS.
  • Verify picked items against orders to reduce errors and returns.
  • Manage wave planning and batch picking to improve efficiency.
  • Investigate and resolve picking discrepancies, short shipments, and stock variances.
  • Operate and maintain the WMS for all picking, packing, and dispatch transactions.
  • Process goods receipts, stock transfers, location moves, and inventory adjustments.
  • Generate and analyse WMS reports on pick accuracy, throughput, ageing stock, and cycle counts.
  • Troubleshoot WMS issues and coordinate with IT or vendors for fixes.
  • Assist with WMS configuration updates, user setup, and system testing during upgrades.
  • Conduct daily cycle counts and periodic full stock takes to reconcile physical stock with WMS records.
  • Monitor stock levels, flag slow‑moving or obsolete items, and recommend actions.
  • Maintain accurate bin locations and support FIFO/FEFO principles.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports for management.
  • Maintain filing systems for delivery notes, proof of delivery, and picking documentation.
  • Coordinate with procurement, sales, and transport teams on order priorities.
  • Process returns, credits, and damaged goods documentation.
  • Perform general administrative tasks such as data entry, correspondence, and scheduling.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations and keep the picking area clean and organised.
  • Report safety hazards, incidents, or near‑misses in line with OHS Act requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum education: Matric / Grade 12 (NQF Level 4).
  • Diploma or Certificate in Warehousing, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is an advantage.
  • 2–3 years of experience in a warehouse picking or administration role.
  • Hands‑on experience with a Warehouse Management System (e.g., SAP WM/EWM, Manhattan, Blue Yonder, Infor, Oracle WMS).
  • Experience using barcode scanners, RF devices, and automated picking technologies.
  • Preferred: experience in a fast‑paced distribution or fulfilment centre.
