Key Requirements

  • A minimum of 9 years of appropriate experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) in General Nursing. At least 5 years of this must be in the specific specialty after obtaining the one-year post-basic qualification in Child Nursing Science.
  • Basic R425 qualification (diploma or degree in nursing) or equivalent that allows registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwife. A post-basic qualification of at least one year, accredited by the SANC in Child Nursing Science.
  • Computer skills in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. A deep understanding of nursing laws, ethics, and how they affect service delivery.
  • Strong skills in communication, leadership, organization, decision-making, and conflict resolution. Good knowledge of human resources and financial policies. Ability to work within Financial Business Units (FBUs). Strong leadership and organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure. Can work independently or in a team.
  • Registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwife, with proof of current registration for 2025.
  • Willingness to work overtime, after hours, weekends, and public holidays as needed.

Main Duties

  • Ensure the nursing team provides quality care according to professional standards in a paediatric setting. Manage and coordinate nursing care within legal and professional guidelines.
  • Manage human and financial resources effectively. Supervise and use resources well.
  • Support practice development, education, and research in nursing.
  • Provide support services and manage resources for the Nursing Division. Maintain professional growth and ethical standards. Build good relationships with nursing staff and other stakeholders through teamwork.
  • Act as a healthcare professional following all relevant norms and standards.

Additional Information

  • No payment is required to apply for this position. Shortlisted candidates will undergo written, practical, and oral assessments.

  • Salary: R 693 096 – R 789 861 per annum, plus benefits (13th cheque, pension fund contribution, housing and medical aid allowance).
