Requirements

  • A minimum of 9 years of appropriate experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) in General Nursing. At least 5 years of this must be in the specific specialty after completing a 1-year post-basic qualification in Advanced Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science.
  • Basic R425 qualification (diploma or degree in nursing) or equivalent that allows registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
  • A post-basic nursing qualification of at least one year, accredited by the SANC in Advanced Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science.
  • Registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwife, with proof of current registration for 2025.
  • Valid driver’s licence (code B or EB) and willingness to work after hours.
  • Knowledge of management principles such as leadership, supervision, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
  • Understanding of relevant laws including Labour Relations, Nursing Legislation, ethical practices, public sector policies, and protocols.
  • Skills in human resources, financial management, and computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and deliver quality nursing care in the Maternal, Child, and Women’s Health department.
  • Help develop, monitor, and implement policies, guidelines, standards, procedures, and regulations for nursing care.
  • Manage human, material, and financial resources effectively, including functional business unit management.
  • Oversee staff performance, training, and personal development, handling under-performance and grievances.
  • Collect, share, and use information to improve service delivery. Participate in and promote nursing research.

Salary and Benefits

R 693 096 to R 789 861 per year, plus annual benefits (13th cheque, employer’s pension fund contribution, housing and medical aid allowance).
