Operational Manager Nursing (Speciality: Specialised Units: Theatre, Trauma & Maternity)

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and deliver quality nursing care in the Operating Theatre and Central Sterilization Unit, Maternity and Obstetric Unit, and Emergency Trauma Unit.
- Help create, monitor, and apply policies, guidelines, standards, procedures, and regulations in the department.
- Manage staff, including performance reviews, training, and discipline.
- Handle material and financial resources effectively.
- Support the hospital’s operations using good management principles.
- Use information to improve service delivery.
Requirements
- A Basic R425 qualification (diploma or degree) in Nursing or equivalent, allowing registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
- Registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
- A post-basic qualification of at least 1 year, accredited by SANC, in one of the following: Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Operating Theatre; Advanced Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science; Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Critical Care Nursing: General; or Trauma and Emergency.
- At least 9 years of appropriate nursing experience after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing. Of this, at least 5 years must be after obtaining the post-basic qualification mentioned above.
- A valid driver’s licence (Code B/EB) and willingness to travel.
- Willingness to work after-hours, weekends, and standby duties for the hospital. Also, to support the Head of Nursing Services and other Operational Managers.
- Good knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and departmental policies.
- Skills to promote quality patient care by setting, implementing, and monitoring standards.
- Strong communication skills (spoken and written).
- Good leadership, decision-making, discipline, and conflict resolution skills.
- Computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Salary and Benefits
R 693 096 per annum – R 789 861 per annum (Plus a non-pensionable rural allowance of 8% of your annual basic salary). This includes annual salary plus service benefits like a 13th cheque, employer’s contribution to the pension fund, housing, and medical aid allowance.
