Operational Ambulance Emergency Assistant – Potchefstroom

Main Purpose of the Job

To respond to emergency calls and provide intermediate medical care within your scope of practice.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Ensure readiness for emergency calls at all times.
  • Provide patient care according to your scope of practice.
  • Promote and maintain a positive public image for ER24.

Required Education

  • Essential: Ambulance Emergency Assistant Certificate or Higher Certificate in Emergency Medical Care.
  • Desired: Completion of training on Clinical Practice Guidelines from the Health Professions Council of South Africa is a plus. If you do not meet this at application, you must complete it during your probation period if hired.

Required Experience

  • Essential: 1 year of EMS experience.
  • Desired: 1 year of Intermediate Life Support (ILS) experience.

Required Job Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of best practices in emergency care.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Familiarity with local facilities, travel routes, and areas.
  • Understanding of HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice.
  • Skills in completing Patient Report Forms.
  • Good proficiency in English (written and spoken).
