Operational Ambulance Emergency Assistant – Cape Town

Main Purpose of the Job

To respond to emergency calls and provide intermediate medical care within your scope of practice.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Prepare for and ensure readiness to handle emergency calls.
  • Provide patient care according to your scope of practice.
  • Promote ER24 and maintain a positive public image.

Required Education

  • Essential: Ambulance Emergency Assistant Certificate or Higher Certificate in Emergency Medical Care.
  • Desired: Training in Clinical Practice Guidelines from the Health Professions Council of South Africa is a plus. If you do not have this at application, you must complete it during your probation period if hired.

Required Experience

  • Essential Minimum: 1 year in Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
  • Desired: 1 year in Intermediate Life Support (ILS).

Required Job Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of best practices in emergency care.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Familiarity with facilities, travel routes, and local areas.
  • Understanding of HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice.
  • Skills in completing Patient Report Forms.
  • Good proficiency in English (written and spoken).
