Operational Ambulance Emergency Assistant – Cape Town

Main Purpose of the Job
To respond to emergency calls and provide intermediate medical care within your scope of practice.
Key Responsibility Areas
- Prepare for and ensure readiness to handle emergency calls.
- Provide patient care according to your scope of practice.
- Promote ER24 and maintain a positive public image.
Required Education
- Essential: Ambulance Emergency Assistant Certificate or Higher Certificate in Emergency Medical Care.
- Desired: Training in Clinical Practice Guidelines from the Health Professions Council of South Africa is a plus. If you do not have this at application, you must complete it during your probation period if hired.
Required Experience
- Essential Minimum: 1 year in Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
- Desired: 1 year in Intermediate Life Support (ILS).
Required Job Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledge of best practices in emergency care.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).
- Familiarity with facilities, travel routes, and local areas.
- Understanding of HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice.
- Skills in completing Patient Report Forms.
- Good proficiency in English (written and spoken).
