Job Purpose

SARS seeks to appoint Officers for Regional Physical Security who can coordinate the protection of people, assets, and facilities. The role involves supervising security personnel, monitoring compliance with security service level agreements, and escalating non-compliance issues to management. You will resolve security challenges at allocated sites, escalate unresolved problems, and report all security incidents in your area of responsibility. You will monitor actions and events, taking appropriate steps or escalating to higher management as needed.

Additionally, you will conduct operational security risk assessments and ensure risk mitigation measures are in place to enhance security. You will coordinate outsourced security providers to comply with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and SARS policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Monitor compliance with policies and procedures, record interventions, and ensure searches follow procedures and legislation. Contribute to developing and improving standards, procedures, and processes for better quality and service. Ensure security systems are operational, report faults, and escalate maintenance issues.

Education and Experience

Minimum Qualification and Experience Required:

  • Higher Certificate in Security Management or Security Risk Management (NQF 5) and 3 years of security supervisory or risk management experience, plus a valid driver’s license.

Alternative:

  • Senior Certificate (NQF 4) and 4 years of security supervisory or risk management experience, plus a valid driver’s license.
