About the Role
Join South Africa’s statutory motor vehicle insurer in a critical role ensuring compliance with legal cost regulations. This position offers the opportunity to work with court procedures, service providers, and complex cost assessments while protecting organizational interests.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Assessment & Validation:
- Evaluate legal bills against RAF Act, court rules, and service agreements
- Process settled/taxed bills and block settlements
- Analyze advocate/attorney accounts per approved tariffs
- Conduct expert disbursement assessments
Court Proceedings:
- Represent RAF at magistrate, regional, and high court taxations
- Prepare and argue cost review proceedings
- Negotiate cost settlements and recover excess payments
Payment Processing:
- Authorize validated cost payments
- Maintain payment records and statistics
- Resolve payment queries from stakeholders
Advisory Services:
- Provide legal cost guidance to claims departments
- Research evolving case law and regulations
- Coordinate with panel attorneys nationwide
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree/Advanced Diploma in Law (Essential)
- 3 years’ experience in legal cost management
- Court procedure and taxation knowledge
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills
