Position Overview
Contract Type: Fixed-Term Contract
Location: East London, Eastern Cape
Experience Requirement: 3+ years in Legal/Claims environment
Education: Bachelor’s Degree/National Diploma in Law (Admitted Attorney preferred)
Core Responsibilities
Legal Cost Assessment
- Evaluate legal cost documents against RAF regulations and court rules
- Process pre-taxation assessments and block settlement evaluations
- Prepare executive cost summaries for management review
Service Provider Management
- Assess attorney/advocate invoices against service agreements
- Verify expert witness disbursement claims
- Monitor compliance with service level agreements
Court Proceedings Handling
- Represent RAF in magistrates’ and high court taxations
- Prepare and argue cost review applications
- Manage litigation-related cost negotiations
Payment Processing & Reporting
- Authorize validated cost payments within approval limits
- Maintain daily transaction records and performance metrics
- Coordinate payment batches with Finance Department
Required Qualifications
- NQF Level 7 qualification in Legal Studies
- 3 years’ practical experience in legal cost management
- Court procedure knowledge and legal research skills
