Occupational Therapist Grade 1 to 3 (PHC Support and Outreach) Jobs

Requirements

• A qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Occupational Therapist.
• Computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
• Ability to work accurately under pressure while keeping a high level of professionalism.
• Ability to work alone or in a team, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Innovative and analytical thinking to start, manage, and keep programs running.
• Knowledge of Community Oriented Primary Care.

Duties

• Provide effective, results-based occupational therapy to patients in the community, following standard principles and protocols.
• Offer mobility and assistive device services in the community.
• Train health staff, clients, families, volunteers, and other department members.
• Handle administrative tasks related to the department, including skills development and training for Occupational Therapists.
• Support your supervisor and colleagues in the subdistrict as needed.

Experience Requirements

• Grade 1: No experience needed after HPCSA registration for South African qualified therapists. For foreign qualified therapists (who do not need to complete community service in South Africa), 1 year of relevant experience after registration.
• Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience after HPCSA registration for South African qualified therapists. For foreign qualified therapists (who do not need to complete community service), a minimum of 11 years’ relevant experience after registration.
• Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years’ relevant experience after HPCSA registration for South African qualified therapists. For foreign qualified therapists (who do not need to complete community service), a minimum of 21 years’ relevant experience after registration.
