Occupational Hygienist

Job Purpose

  • Monitors compliance and improves understanding and awareness of environmental and occupational hazards and risks.
  • This post reports to the Occupational Health Physician.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Manages and controls specific functional administrative, communication, and reporting requirements.
  • Develops, maintains, and coordinates an Integrated Environmental Hazard Management System and defines associated procedural guidelines.
  • Coordinates and implements audit and inspection interventions to determine exposure to environmental and occupational hygiene hazards and risks.
  • Provides input into workplace design and/or work processes.
  • Facilitates learning and awareness of environmental/occupational hygiene.
  • Coordinates specific administrative, report, and recordkeeping requirements.

Essential Requirements

  • Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Environmental Health, Occupational Hygiene, Environmental Science, or any related equivalent qualification.
  • Registered with the South African Institution for Occupational Hygiene as a certified member.
  • Valid motor vehicle driving license.
  • 2 years relevant experience in Occupational Hygiene.
  • Computer Literacy

Preferred Requirements

  • Degree (NQF Level 7) in Environmental Health, Occupational Hygiene, Environmental Science, or any related equivalent qualification.
  • 3 years relevant experience in Occupational Hygiene.
