Job Purpose

  • To apply technical knowledge of electricity network control and evaluate the status of electricity supply.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Apply interpretative and evaluative principles to monitor electricity supply and status of outgoing circuits.
  • Monitor load flow throughout the system and check status at critical points on the electrical network.
  • Respond to system alarm signals by assessing situations and addressing deviations or malfunctions using technical knowledge.
  • Maintain safety levels and continuity of supply during technical and operational work on the electrical system.
  • Monitor and determine electricity flow based on indicators of operating conditions and safety.
  • Conduct investigations and communicate information on technical applications, procedures, and performance related to the electrical network.
  • Share technical information about continuity of supply and planned outages.
  • Maintain records of network control system performance and statistics, and meet specific reporting needs.

Essential Requirements

  • Trade Tested Artisan (Electrician).
  • NTC4 or NCV4 certificate in Electrical Engineering, registered with the Department of Education.
  • Authorization for 11kV switching with no restrictions.
  • Valid motor vehicle driving license.
  • Valid First Aid Certificate or to obtain it within 6 months of appointment.
  • 3 years of relevant experience in the Electricity Transmission and Distribution environment.
